Biological Environment


Subtidal: 

soft sediments and rocky reef with a rich and diverse soft bottom benthic community in the vicinity of the outfall; juvenile bivalve molluscs and amphipod crustaceans; filter feeders (sponges, crinoids and other invertebrates); algae, mainly Lithothamnion and turfing red algae (Laxton & Duell 1993); rock platforms present at the northern and southern ends with fauna described by Laurie, Montgomerie and Pettit (1977a).
